Super Bowl LVIII

My preparation for Super Bowl LVIII began well before the week in Las Vegas, starting with collecting data after the conclusion of the AFC and NFC Championships. The experience was an overall fast-paced, high-stress environment. However, upon reflecting on the trip, I realized how much my confidence and dedication had improved for the industry.

USA TODAY: Mapped: Super Bowl 58 teams, 49ers and Chiefs, filled with players from across the country

This project required creation of a dataset featuring the hometowns of every player on the Super Bowl LVIII teams, plugging the longitude and latitude coordinates into Flourish, and polishing a map for publication. My reporting included takeaways from the map in addition to quoting players originally from the Kansas City and Bay Area regions.

THE JOURNAL GAZETTE: Drue Tranquill: From “Developmental Player” to Super Bowl LVIII

This detailed profile story included traveling to Fort Wayne, Indiana to interview the family and high school head coach of Chiefs linebacker Drue Tranquill. Through in-depth interviewing, I learned about his passion of football through faith and his journey from being phrased as a "developmental player" at Notre Dame to the first player from Carroll High School to play in the Super Bowl.

MEDILL REPORTS: Patrick Mahomes makes history, leads Chiefs to back-to-back Super Bowls

I attended Super Bowl LVIII as a Chiefs freelance reporter, tying their overtime victory to Sin City's hosting of its first-ever Super Bowl. The punchline ties the week together, as the defending champions retained the "belt" in a match reminiscent of a heavyweight boxing bout.
